It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luis “Guiso” Ayala Perez, age 89, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania who passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2025 at his home.
Luis was born on June 26, 1935 in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Flor and Cecelia Ayala Perez. He had a very large family, including 16 siblings. His siblings were an endearing part of his life that he cherished.
Luis worked in many agricultural fields during his life. He worked for ACA Mushrooms in Kennett Square for many years and afterwords worked for Caputo and Guest Mushrooms, retiring due to covid at the age of 85. He was a hard-working man, who provided for his family and most importantly due to his strong work ethic instilled by his father. He worked with many people during his life and his smile would always be welcoming to anyone he spoke with.
His love of gardening and providing family and friends with vegetables from his garden was a huge part of his life. He raised many animals and enjoying the outdoors were many of his greatest joys. We remember the gatherings of family and friends at his home for many years.
Luis was a loving, devoted husband to his late wife, Mary Elizabeth Perez of 56 years before her passing in 2021. He was preceded in death by his son, Damon in 2009. He was a wonderful father and grandfather who showed love, kindness, laughter and joy to all his family. The love he provided and gave them will always be remembered.
We also remember his siblings who passed before him as well, Clemencia, Juan, Natividad, Anastacio, Dolores, Maria, Pedro and Jesus.
He is survived by his children; sons, Charles Blevins of Oxford, Antonio Perez, his son, Antonio Jr. and his daughter, Iris Fazio (Michael) of Kennett Square, PA; niece, Nancy Blevins and her children, Nicolas and Melissa; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brianna (Joseph) and her children, Joseph and Niko, Kristina (Darius) and her children, Ava and Armani. In addition, his siblings, Jose (Gloria), Petronila (Antonio), Lucia (Eduardo), Francisco (Madelin), Carmello (Julia), Antonio (Aidin) and Carmen (Kevin).His is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Puerto Rico and the United States.
A viewing will be from 1:00PM until 2:30PM with a funeral service at 2:30PM on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
Burial will be private.
