Madeline Salerni

Madeline D. Salerni of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. She was 91 years old. Born in Damascus, Virginia, she was the daughter of Wiley Thomas Barker and Lola Blanche Johnson.

She was the beloved wife of the late Robert W. Salerni (1923-1998); mother of Deborah A. O’Donnell (Lawrence O’Donnell) and Robert J. Salerni (Dianne Salerni); grandmother of Abigail Conklin (Bryan Ernst), Stephen Conklin (Lauren O’Sullivan), Joseph O’Donnell, Gabrielle Salerni, and Gina Salerni; great grandmother of Alexandra Ernst, Evelyn Ernst and Sofia Ernst.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Josephine Blackburn and her brother, Burl Barker.  In later life, Madeline worked as a bookkeeper for Elite Mushroom for a number of years, then at Mother Earth Organics before retiring at the age of 83. Madeline loved spending time with her friends, children and grandchildren and enjoyed reading, bingo, and other social activities at Luther House.

Visitation with the family will be from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with a memorial service at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.  Inurnment will follow in St. Patrick Cemetery.
