Marjorie “Margie” Joyce Peirson Fisher was born on April 2, 1942 and named by her father after her mother in West Grove Hospital, PA. She was the 7th of 10 children. She attended West Grove Elementary School and graduated from Avon Grove High School in 1960. She grew up in a home filled with music of all types and so began her lifelong love of music.
After finishing high school she started her family and was the proud mother of her three children, Rich, Tammie and Tim. As a young mother, Margie worked in the library at West Chester University doing administrative work. In the spring of 1971 Margie and her children moved from West Chester to Kennett Square, PA where she met her future husband, Henry Fisher. As fate would have it Margie moved into the apartment directly above Henry and their lives changed upon meeting in the laundry room of the apartments.
Margie and Henry married on August 8, 1972 thereby creating a loving blended family consisting of Margie’s children and Henry’s children, Anne, Cynthia and James. In the spring of 1973 the family moved to their new home near Longwood Gardens where many memorable holidays were spent together. Numerous summer vacations were spent in Avalon, NJ where the new family had fun, laughter and created memories to last a lifetime.
In the mid 1980’s Margie worked at Hamilton Bank as a teller. She was offered a promotion due to her excellent customer service skills, but she declined the full time position. Also, to improve herself, she took night courses at West Chester University.
Margie had a determination to learn tennis and took lessons where she became very accomplished. She was competitive and also made many new friends. That same determination was applied to her desire to take up jogging and she participated in Brians Run on many occasions. She also bicycled 60 miles with family for the American Cancer Society.
Among other hobbies, Margie shared a lifelong bond with her sisters and together they regularly enjoyed shopping trips, concerts and dining. More importantly, they shared fun and laughter in whatever they did. Margie had a love for live music, on and off Broadway Shows, dancing and travel. She and Henry traveled the United States, Canada, Europe and the Caribbean extensively.
Margie was a wonderful homemaker with an impeccable sense of style. She collected Hummels, Limoge boxes, coins, stamps, Playbills, first- edition autographed books and more. She was an avid reader, particularly biographies and non fiction.
Margie had a love of nature and the beauty of the earth. She was always aware of the moon phases, and would be sure to remind family of full moons. She loved birds, deer, foxes and all God’s creatures.
Margie was beautiful, inside and out, fun loving, had a great sense of humor and laugh, admired by everyone she met. She was a good listener, a good friend to many and always ready to help those in need. Margie was spiritual and had a faith in Jesus. She loved children and especially babies. But above all else, she had a deep, abiding love and devotion for Henry. He was the center of her life and their marriage was admired by all who knew them.
Margie suffered with Alzheimers and passed away peacefully surrounded by family. She is survived by Henry, her children, her stepchildren, her 6 grandchildren, Jason, Jared, Sarah, Geoff, Isabelle and Sebastian and her 3 great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Lilly and Emma. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard, Beverly, Barry and Lynne. She was predeceased in death by her siblings, Norwood, Charlene, Eunice, Audrey and Robert as well as her parents, Norwood and Marjorie.
