Obituary

Martin Andrew Karch of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania and formerly of The Villages, Florida, Middle Island, New York and Cherry Hill, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 8, 2023.  He was 89 years old.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Martin was the son of the late Andrew M. Karch and the late Emma Tausani Karch.  He grew up and was educated in Queens, NY and then attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, earning his bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.  He also earned a Master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania.  One of Martin’s greatest achievements was being a part of the RPI Ice Hockey Team and winning the 1954 National Championship.  Following graduation, Martin began his long career at RCA/GE where he worked in the Government Defense Program Department.  He retired after many years of devoted service.  Martin was a devoted Philadelphia sports fan.  He enjoyed fine dining, his wine and the 17 years while living in the Villages. 

Martin is survived by his longtime companion, Lorraine Stellmann of The Villages, FL. He was the beloved father of Kevin Karch (Lorraine) and Allison Newbrough (Rob); grandfather of Kristen Newbrough, Lauren Newbrough and Jason Karch; brother of Andrea Relyea of The Villages, FL; uncle of many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his sister, Barbara Baumeister. 

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date in Long Island, NY.
