Morton "Buck" Sakers Obituary

Morton "Buck" Sakers, age 95, of Jenners Pond Retirement Community in West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023 at his residence.

Born in Chester, Pennsylvania on May 9, 1928, he was the son of Morton and Elizabeth Sakers.  After graduating from Nether Providence High School in 1947, Buck was recruited to play professional baseball with the minor league team of the Boston Braves.  After a few years as their pitcher, he was injured in this position and moved on in life. Buck was employed by the Sun Oil Company and retired after 35 years of dedicated service.  In 1945 he met Virginia Hill and together wed in 1949.  In the following years, they grew their family with children, David, Robert and Diane.  Following retirement from Sun Oil in 1985, Buck enjoyed his passions of hunting, fishing and playing gold with his sons, grandsons and "favorite son-in-law".  He volunteered at the Jennersville Hospital for many years, donated gallons of blood to the Red Cross and simply gave his time and heart to many causes and organizations, far too many to mention.

In addition to his parents, Buck is predeceased by his brother, George and sister, Elizabeth "Betty".  He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Virginia Hill-Sakers; children, David Sakers, Robert Sakers and Diane Allen; grandchildren, Robert, Tamie, Heather, Matthew, Nettie, Caitlin, Colgan, Conor and 13 great-grandchildren.

Burial will be private by the family.
