Murray Robert Miles, age 87, of Oxford, PA passed away unexpectedly on May 13, 2026.

Murray was born on September 29, 1938 in Port Huron, MI to the late Hazel and late Robert B. Miles.

As a teen, Murray moved with his family to the Philadelphia area and graduated from Haverford H.S. in 1956 and the University Of Pennsylvania Wharton School Of Business in Philadelphia in 1960.

Murray enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an officer in 1960, and was discharged from military service as a Lieutenant Commander in 1964. He then served in the reserves for a time.

Murray worked in various corporate management positions, most in the aerospace, energy, and metallurgical industries in MD and PA. He also was a partner in a personnel search firm.

Murray was an avid golfer from boyhood, and most recently was a team captain at Loch Nairn Golf Course in Avondale, PA, where he finally got his hole-in-one.

Murray also loved gardening, home improvement, wild bird watching, visiting natural sites, and hosting his grandchildren.

Murray is remembered for being a devoted, loving husband, father, and employee. He was personable and good-natured, and had a great sense of humor. He was known as someone who did things carefully and well, and was affectionately teased about how everything he did had to be just-so, or ‘Mur-fect’, including making his favorite cocktail, vodka gimlets. He was an intelligent, thoughtful person and rarely forgot anything.

Murray married in 1960, and is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Carolyn P. Miles (nee Feathers), daughter Kelly-Anne Bryan of Narvon, PA, son Kenneth E. Miles (Amy) of Simpsonville, SC, son Robert Miles (Susan) of Oxford, PA, sister Bonnie J Boyd (Robert) of Cleveland, OH, seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Christina J. Bryan.

Final arrangements are being handled by Longwood Funeral Home and Cremation of Matthew Genereux, Inc. in Kennett Square, PA. In lieu of a formal memorial service, the family will hold a life celebration on a date to be determined.
