Myrna Taylor Farina (84) passed away peacefully on August 6, 2023. Born March 9, 1939 to Mildred and Charles Taylor, Myrna lived with her parents in Philadelphia, PA until she left for West Chester University to attend College and study Education. This is where she met her husband, the late Lewis J. Farina Jr. (1938 – 2006). Myrna is survived by her three children Bruce Farina, Scott Farina and Deni-Lyn Lane. Myrna was a dedicated mother to her three children, but was equally proud of her role as “Granny” to 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Family vacations to Ocean Gate, New Jersey early in Myrna and Lewis’s marriage set the foundation for the true love of the sea by her children and grandchildren. The sea is still the focal point for the entire family for family vacations and get togethers. Myrna and Lewis loved their time at the beach with family.
In addition to her love of family, Myrna was dedicated to the education and betterment of all children. Myrna spent a career as a high school English teacher finally retiring from the Unionville-Chadds Ford School District. In addition to her excellence in the classroom, Myrna sponsored the high school’s trips abroad giving students the first hand opportunity to experience cultures from around the world. One of the more unique extracurricular activities that Myrna sponsored was Unionville’s Harvest Queen Pageant during the communities annual farm show (not many people can say they did that in their lifetime).
Myrna was a strong willed matriarch and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, loyal, and brave.
She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her family and friends. She truly loved each of them. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity, strength, and love. She will be missed dearly.
In typical Myrna fashion, there are no services planned, certainly no pomp and circumstance. Her family will celebrate her life in their own personal way.
