Nancy Caronine Webster passed away on June 22nd, 2023, at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware. She was 83 years old, and her last few weeks were surrounded by her loving family. Nancy Dillon was born on December 14th, 1939 in Indianapolis, Indiana and adopted by her devoted parents, Jesse and Candace Dillon. Nancy lived in many different places throughout her life, before moving to Newark, DE last summer to be closer to her family.
Nancy graduated in 1957 from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis as the Salutatorian in a class of over 700. Her love of learning brought her to Purdue University on a full scholarship where she studied Education and became a teacher. Nancy met the love of her life, Lynn Webster, at Purdue after both were initially engaged to their high school sweethearts. Lynn asked Nancy on a “Coke date” where they talked for hours in the student union and history was made. Nancy married Lynn in 1960, living around the country as well as five years in Germany, during his 29 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Nancy’s love of reading was unparalleled with her favorite genre being a good mystery series. She was a passionate teacher wherever the Army sent them and taught in many DODDS facilities (Department of Defense Dependent Schools) during their time overseas. Her greatest love was teaching Science to middle school children, for which many thought she was crazy! Nancy's passion for trivia was put to the test nightly as a devoted "Jeopardy" fan, amazing family and friends with the breadth of her knowledge.
Nancy and Lynn settled in Tucson, Arizona for the past thirty years following Lynn’s retirement from the military. She continued her teaching career in Tucson before her own retirement, then filled her days with volunteering for local organizations and visiting her children and grandchildren in Texas, Delaware and New Jersey. She especially enjoyed every Christmas holiday when her beloved family gathered in their beautiful home in the Tucson foothills. Nancy lived an amazing life throughout her 63 years of marriage (June 5th) to Lynn. She spent her last months in Newark, near her daughters and their families. She especially cherished visits from her great-grandson, Dylan, regularly checking the Google Photo album his parents updated frequently.
Nancy is survived by her devoted husband, Lynn, and three children, Cindy and her husband Keith Bart of Newark, DE, Nathan Webster of Duncanville, TX, and Melanie and her husband Brian Bowers of Morris Plains, NJ, as well as her loving grandchildren, Trevor Bart, Matthew Davis and his wife Allison (and great-grandson Dylan), Cory Bart, Laura and her husband Adam Stoye, Sarah Webster, Lexi Bowers, Mary Bowers and Tessa Bowers. She is also survived by her loving sister, Jayne and husband Dick Wires of Meridianville, Alabama. Nancy will always be remembered for her fierce love of family, including those who married into it, always there for anyone in need.
Family and friends are welcome to gather on Friday, July 14th for a viewing from 9:30-11:00 am with a funeral service at 11:00 am at the Longwood Funeral Home, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The West in Tucson, AZ http://thewestinc.com/ where Nancy volunteered for many years.
Nancy will be buried in a private ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
