Patricia Fox Obituary

December 21, 1947 – March 8, 2023

Patricia ‘Pat’ Ann Fox, 75, of Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 8, 2023, in her home surrounded by her family and her beloved cat and dog, Rusty and Rosie, after a short but aggressive battle with cancer.  She was born in Wilmington, Delaware, to Jane Sines Fox and Harry Fox, Sr., on December 21, 1947.  She was raised with one older brother, Michael Warren, and one younger brother, the late Harry Fox, Jr.  She attended PS Dupont High School.

From an early age, Pat was a single mother who had an incredible work ethic and had an extensive career spanning numerous professions.  From working in a dental laboratory to working for Janney Montgomery Scott to later in life working as a paraprofessional for the West Chester School District as an aide to children with special needs, Pat demonstrated her love for her community.  Specific to this, Pat was a talented horticulturist and environmentalist who rejoiced in the splendor of the natural environment, tending to the Earth and respecting the land, and taught environmental programs at the Brandywine Valley Association.  She also worked extensively for the Philadelphia Flower Show, Longwood Gardens, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, and served as a member of numerous gardening clubs.

She was a lover of the finer things in life and enjoyed homemade cuisines that she cooked herself and for her family.  She was an incredible hostess and ensured there would be enough food, drink, and merriment in all occasions.  She enjoyed making homemade gifts and loved growing lavender, making jewelry, and knitting blankets and hats for her friends and family.  She was a self-proclaimed student of ancient and medieval literature who was an avid reader and writer of poetry, was a classical music aficionado, and recently took up watercolors as a new pastime.  At any point in her life until recently, Pat always had at least two dogs and a cat.  It may be true that she loved animals more than people, and always was one to rescue pets that needed a home.  She mentioned that her one true soulmate in her life was one of her dogs, Bridghid, who will be buried with her.

She is survived by her son, Michael, and daughter-in-law, Lisa; her grandchildren: Lauren and Michael; her brother Michael Warren; sister-in-law Margaret Reardon Fox, among many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Her legacy will forever carry on and remind us to love one another and love the Earth in which we inhabit. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Pat’s life.
