Patricia “Trish” Hazzard passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, at the age of 73. Born in Brisbane, Australia on May 31, 1952, Trish lived a life rich in adventure, joy, and deep connection.
The daughter of Norma and Jack Hazzard, and beloved sister and lifelong best friend to Catherine, Trish grew up in Brisbane and carried with her the warmth and spirit of her homeland throughout her life. At age 20, she stepped aboard a ship bound for Europe, and from that moment on, her heart was set on exploring the world. She met her lifelong friend, Louis Argyris, during this time who introduced her to life in America. They remained close friends and supports to each other throughout their lives.
A few years into her life in America, Trish met Wilson King. They were married in 1983 and soon welcomed their daughters, Pia and Allie. Together, they built a life filled with adventure—traveling widely and raising their girls with love, curiosity, and joy.
Trish co-founded Outback Trading Company, bringing a piece of Australia to the United States with pride and passion. Through her work, she shared her culture and entrepreneurial spirit, forging a lasting legacy in both business and community.
Trish was a vivacious presence, someone who could light up any room with her energy and laughter. She loved hosting gatherings (especially with French Champagne), gardening, playing Scrabble, cooking delicious meals, and sailing. But above all, she loved to travel. Whether by plane, train, or automobile, Trish was always ready for a new adventure, visiting over 30 countries across her lifetime. Her sense of wonder never faded, and her passports were a well-worn testament to a life lived fully.
Her legacy lives on through her family who she inspired with her amazing life. She is survived by her beloved daughters Pia (Ryan) and Allie (Keith); her grandchildren Ada and Milo; her sister Catherine (Dan); nephews Jake and Paddy (Maddi); and niece Mara (John). Though divorced, Trish maintained a lifelong familial bond with Wilson King, his wife Victoria Vinton, and the entire King family. She is also survived by a devoted circle of lifelong friends who were more like family—a loving village who shared in her stories, her laughter, and her zest for life.
Trish’s legacy is one of fearless exploration, warm hospitality, and boundless love. She will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered.
Trish’s family would also like to extend their most sincere gratitude to the team at Brandywine Living and her many wonderful aids who assisted her through her last few years.
A celebration of Trish’s life will be held on June 25th with a visitation at 11am at Greenville Country Club, 201 Owls Nest Road, Wilmington, Delaware. Lunch for family and friends to follow at 12pm. Please wear colorful clothing to represent the bright presence that was Trish.
