Pearl Lois Swayne passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Born on July 14, 1937 in Easton Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of of the late Carl H. Sweet and the late Olive V. Stiles Sweet.
Pearl and the family moved to Glen Mills, Pennsylvania where she graduated from Media High School. While living in West Chester, Pennsylvania, she worked as a bank teller at the National Bank of Chester County and Trust Company. After raising her family, she worked as a bank teller at Commonwealth Federal Savings and Loan. Following her banking career, Pearl worked at Acme Markets in the bakery department.
Pearl was a member of Brandywine Baptist Church, Order of the Eastern Star ~ Kennett Square Chapter #513 where she served as treasurer and the Longwood Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Pearl believed in taking care of family in their time of need and was a caretaker to her father, her mother-in-law, mother and her husband. She and Sam moved to Yorktown, Virginia in 2007 to live near her youngest daughter for the remainder of their lives. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, knitting and doing crafts. She enjoyed watching the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles.
Pearl was the beloved wife of the late Samuel Williamson Swayne, mother of Sandra Mae Leib (Dwayne), Sharon Marie Collins (Randy) and Susan Marlene Nickle (Garth); grandmother of Melissa Leib, Diana Leib, Brandon Leib, Brayden Collins, Samantha Nickle and Sean Nickle; sister of Roy H. Sweet and Arthur J. Sweet.
Visitation with the family will be from 11:00AM until 12:00PM with a funeral service at 12:00PM on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square. Burial will follow in Birmingham-Lafayette Cemetery, West Chester.
