In Loving Memory of an Extraordinary Woman
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Petra Gill, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. Petra departed this world surrounded by loved ones on June 30, 2023 at the age of 59 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Petra was an exceptional woman who touched the lives of those around her with her humor, intelligence, enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication to her loved ones.
Petra cherished her role as a wife to James, her devoted husband. Together, they created a home filled with love, laughter, good food, and support.
Petra was a guiding light for her children, Jimmy and Jesse. She showered them with unconditional love, instilling in them the values of hard work, kindness, integrity, and perseverance. Her legacy will live on through them as they carry forward her spirit and the lessons she imparted. She looked forward to their weddings to Rebecca and Olivia.
Petra pursued her education at Penn State University. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Science and Engineering. She obtained two Master's degrees, one in Solid State Science and an MBA. She was built of Penn State blue and white and could be found watching Nittany Lions football each Sunday through the fall.
Petra was an extraordinary woman and trusted friend, known for her chocolate chip cookies, beautiful and plentiful gardens, community service, dedication to her work and clients, generous spirit, compassion, intellect, and genuine kindness. She possessed a rare ability to make everyone she encountered feel valued and loved. Her radiant smile and infectious energy brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Petra is survived by her husband James; sons Jimmy and Jesse; her mother, Siglind Heiland; a brother, Norman Heiland; a sister, Carla (Heiland) Wright; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
