Philip G. Biacco, of Cochranville, PA, passed away at Chester County Hospital on May 14, 2024. He was 74 years old. Born on January 29, 1950 in Pardeesville, PA, he was the son of the late Augustus and Frances (Laberta) Biacco.
Phil loved his beautiful wife of 53 years, Barbara. His love of family showed no bounds as a wonderful husband, father, brother and uncle. He previously worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at Fairway Motors, Jeddo Highland Coal and Latona Trucking before retiring. Phil was an active member of the United Mine Workers.
In his younger days, Phil was a guitarist in a rock band called "Black Light". His hobbies included gardening, especially cutting grass, puzzles and going to pawn shops. He was also an enthusiastic Yankees fan and took enormous pride in cutting his lawn with the same look as the stadium. In 2011, Leadership Hazleton recognized Phil with the "Spark Award" for his dedicated work on the Alliance Wellness Trail. He will always be remembered most, as an exceptional storyteller leaving all with many cherished belly laughs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Augustus and Frances Biacco; siblings, Mary Martino, Nicholas Biacco and his wife, Matilda, Augustus Biacco and his wife, Enise and Bernard Biacco and his wife, Denise.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Biacco; their children, Philip John Biacco and his wife, Charlee of Drums, PA. and Melissa Dietrich and her husband, Daniel, of Cochranville, PA; his siblings, Josephine Bellinghausen of Hazleton, PA, Anne Marie Rabenold of Schnecksville, PA and Anthony Biacco and his wife, Theresa, of Drums, PA. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Phil was a member of the Holy Rosary Church in Hazleton, PA and also enjoyed attending Mass at Saint Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother in Avondale, PA.
Visitation with the family will be from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with a Funeral Mass being offered at 11:00AM on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Holy Rosary Church, 240 S Poplar St, Hazleton, PA 18201. Burial will be private
