Price D Heppe, of Newtown Square and recently of Kennett Square passed away peacefully on December 3, 2024 at Brandywine Living at Longwood.
Born on April 4, 1927 in Philadelphia he was the son of Marcellus McDowell Heppe and Margaret Price Deal.
He was predeceased by his first wife Anne Merriman, second wife Barbara Kowalzyk, the daughter of Rear Admiral and Mrs. Alexander Kowalzyk and his son Price D Heppe, Jr. of Almo, KY.
He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Brownback of Cochranville, PA, daughter-in-law Maxie Heppe of Almo, KY, grandchildren Jesse Hughes of Landenberg, PA, Marshall Brownback of Phoenixville, PA, Price D Heppe, III of Murray, KY, Ashley Heppe of Raleigh, NC and Kayla Cathey, Lexington, KY, and 9 great grandchildren.
He graduated from Episcopal Academy in 1945 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was first stationed in Tampa FL, and discharged in 1946 when he then resumed his education at the Wharton School. He later left and enrolled in Philadelphia College of Art majoring in art and design. Price married Anne Merriman in 1952, resided in Strafford where they had two children. During that time he was called back into service for 22 months during the Korean war. After his final discharge he worked for Lukens Steel in the advertising department which led to a career as Advertising and Sales Promotion Director at Whitman’s Chocolates. Upon leaving Whitmans he and his cousin purchased two Hardee’s restaurants and later invested with 4 friends in a woman’s specialty clothing store in Paoli. In 1974 he married Barbara and they lived during the winter in Newtown Square and summered in Little Deer Isle Maine. He loved to be active. His hobbies included landscape paintings, bowling, golf, tennis and playing the organ. You could always find him wearing his red socks.
He was a former member of the Merion Cricket Club, Merion Golf Club and Blue Hill Country Club.
A celebration of life is scheduled for this summer in Maine.
