Richard Bennett Obituary

Richard Wayne Bennett of West Grove and formerly of Aston, Pennsylvania passed away from ALS at his home on Thursday, October 26, 2023.  He was surrounded by his family after a valiant battle.  He was 80 years old.

Born in Ridley Park, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Herman Lampe Bennett and the late Dorothy Mearns Bennett.  Rich was a 1961 graduate of Ridley Park High School and attended Penn State University before enlisting in the United States Army where he served his Country with honor.  Following his discharge, Richard began his career in banking at Philadelphia National Bank (later becoming Corestates Bank).  He retired after 35 years of service in 1999.  Rich then set up his new office at home, where he tracked and traded investments.  He enjoyed his shore home in N. Cape May, where many projects were completed with precision and accuracy using his close and handy tape measure which he was know to have on his belt most times!  Most of all, Rich was a devoted husband, always available father and cherished grandfather (as their ready & able babysitter and caretaker!) for many years.  He will be missed so much by his family.

He was the beloved husband of Joanne Leonard Bennett; father of Steven Bennett (Dorothy), Julie Buttacavoli (Ed) and Brian Bennett (Tina); grandfather of Makayla, Ava and Evan Buttacavoli, Luke and Caitlin Bennett and Ally and Kylie Bennett; brother of Lynn Friedrichs (Karl) and the late Gary Bennett.  He is also survived by many nieces and nephews

Per his wishes, services and burial will be private.

Memorial donations to the ALS Association of Greater Philadelphia, https://secure.alsphiladelphia.org

OR to Paralyzed Veterans of America, https://secure.pva.org/PVA/donate in Richard's name would be appreciated.
