Richard "Dick" Kuehnemund passed away on Monday, November 25th due to complications from Alzheimer's. He is survived by Nancy, his loving wife of 44 years; daughters Stephanie Lane (Brad) and Nicole Ellis (Peter); grandchildren Eliza, Amelia, Katherine, and Jackson; brother-in-law Jim Butz (Marie); cousins Julia Viera and Jo Sloan, and many cherished friends. Dick spent much of his youth in Princeton, NJ where his father was a professor at the university. After graduating from high school, Dick joined the Army and spent a year of his service in Korea. He later attended Michigan State University, graduating with a degree in radio and tv. He spent the majority of his career working in sales, primarily in the publishing industry. Many will remember Dick for his great love of full-scale and model trains. He was a passionate Lionel collector and well-respected among other enthusiasts. Dick was also a "car guy", having been an amateur drag racer in his younger days and long-time owner of his beloved 1957 Chevy. In his retirement, he enjoyed antiquing, reading, visiting old inns, and traveling, particularly to historical destinations or when train excursions were involved. He took great joy in his family, a warm cat in his lap, and a chocolate malt or old-fashioned in his hand.
A celebration of life will be held for Dick later this summer. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
