Robert Weer

Robert Fulton Weer, “Bob”, age 87, formerly of Unionville, PA, currently of West Grove, passed away at Chester County Hospital on Monday, March 20, 2023.

Born in Northbrook, PA on September 3, 1935, he was the son of the late W. Albert and Louise Fulton Weer. He graduated from Unionville High School in 1953, while working for his grand-father’s Caleb P. Fulton Feed Co. In 1955, he married and is survived by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Crossland Weer.

Bob started his career working for Delmarva Power & Light Company and attended Brown Vocational School before being drafted in the U.S. Army. After his military service, he returned to Delmarva Power and retired after 40 years of employment. A year later, he worked part-time several years for Gerbron Wholesale delivery company before retiring to Jenners Pond Retirement Community.

Following in the path of his grand-father, Bob served as a Unionville Chadds Ford School Board member, before serving as an East Marlborough Township Supervisor. He was a life member of the Po-Mar-Lin Fire Company, a member of the Kennett Square Masonic Lodge, and a long time volunteer umpire for the Unionville Recreation Association. As they eased into retirement, Bob and Barb spent their summers in recent years at the shore in Stone Harbor, NJ.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by their daughter, Blair Weer Fleischmann and her husband Charlie of Oxford, PA, John A. Weer of Kennett Square, and Robert F. Weer, Jr. and his wife Allison of West Grove, PA; four grandchildren, Amanda Weer, Oliver Fleischmann, Robert F. Weer III, and Abigail Weer, two great-grandsons, Bentley and Bryson Bush.

Bob was predeceased by a grand-daughter, Emily Fleischmann, and all of his siblings, William A. Weer, Janice Weer, Margaret Weer Simpson, and Wenona Weer Harris.

Viewing and Visitation with the family will be from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM with a funeral service at 11:30 AM on Friday, March 24, 2023 at West Grove Methodist Church, 300 N. Guernsey Road, West Grove.  Burial will follow in Unionville Cemetery.
