Rogers “Rod” W. Vaughn (92 years old) passed on peacefully on Saturday, March 30th, at Chester County Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family who had been with him continually for several days. Mr. Vaughn's life was marked by his unconditional love for friends and family, everyone who knew Mr. Vaughn knows that he believed that love conquers all. He was notoriously generous with his time and spirit, always helping those around him at the drop of a hat. Mr. Vaughn was also an avid sports enthusiast, being a lifelong Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan. Son of the late Congressman Albert C. Vaughn and Ruth E. (McCloskey) Vaughn, Mr. Vaughn was raised in Fullerton, PA and graduated from White Hall High School, PA. Mr. Vaughn was married to his late wife Patricia "Pat" (Holgren) Vaughn whom he was married to for 58 years. The couple met while students at the University of Pennsylvania, where Mr. Vaughn was a journalism major and member of the Sigma Epsilon fraternity. They married a month after her graduation and soon moved to Germany as Mr. Vaughn completed his military service as an Intelligence Officer for the U.S. Army. The couple lived in the West Chester PA area since 1957, except for five years while Rogers worked in Geneva, C.H. and Brussels BELG for DuPont in the 1970s. Mr. Vaughn was a 40 year career DuPont executive and worked as the VP of Marketing and head of the Teflon and Corian divisions. He was known for his sharp mind, his financial acumen and vast knowledge of history.
Survivors: Mr. Vaughn is survived by his sisters Patricia (Vaughn) Fainor and Virginia Vaughn, his daughter Bonny (Vaughn) Destafney and husband Frank Destafney, and three grandchildren of his late son Erik Vaughn; Lauren Vaughn, Haley Von-Worrall, and William Vaughn. Also loved by all nephews & nieces. He is also predeceased by, his sister Gloria (Vaughn) Matson, Albert “Bud” Vaughn.
Private services will be held in West Chester to celebration of Mr. Vaughn’s life.
