We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Longwood Funeral Home & Cremation of Matthew Genereux, Inc.
On July 1, 2022, Sofia Vatick Culver, age 79 of Millsboro, formerly of Dover, entered God’s Eternal Kingdom. Born in Dover, DE on April 13, 1943 to George and Madge Vatick (nee Lodge), Sofia was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School. Following graduation, Sofia married Donald G. Culver, with whom she co-owned Capitol Office Equipment and Supply prior to joining the Kent County Department of Finance as a bookkeeper. A person of great faith with a love of music, Sofia spent many years with the People’s United Church of Christ, before relocating to Millsboro where she was an active member of the East Gate Presbyterian Church and sang in the church choir. For those fortunate enough to know her, Sofia’s light and unyielding faith in God shone bright, and were on full display for all to see.
In addition to her parents, Sofia was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, and her sisters Luxandra Hallberg of Crystal Lake, IL, and Joanna Semans of Dover, DE. She is survived by her children Donna L. Culver (David A. Smith) of Hockessin, DE and Donald W. Culver (Lanna) of Milford, DE, sister Marina Ney (Bruce) of Magnolia, DE, and her greatest treasures - grandchildren Brittany, Hunter, Sage and Taylor (Culver), and Katie and Cameron (Smith) - around whom her life revolved.
A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, July 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at East Gate Presbyterian Church, 34806 Church Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966, followed by a luncheon at Baywood Greens, 32267 Clubhouse Way, Millsboro, DE, where the family will receive friends and family.
