In Loving Memory of Teresa Ann Hoien
Teresa Ann Hoien, born on December 18, 1960, in Estherville, Iowa, left this world unexpectedly on October 14, 2023, at the age of 62. She departed this life with her husband, Tracey Rothenberger, and dear friends by her side.
Teresa’s journey began in the small town of Gilman, Iowa, where she attended high school. Her quest for knowledge led her to Iowa State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business. Throughout her academic journey, Teresa cherished the life-long friendships she made, both during her high school years and at Iowa State.
After her college graduation, Teresa embarked on a path that would take her to various places. Her adventures moved her from Phoenix, Arizona, to the vibrant city of Minneapolis, where fate brought her together with Tracey Rothenberger. Their love story began on September 8, 1987, and it blossomed into a beautiful marriage on September 5, 1992. Together, they discovered their shared passions for cinema, animals, travel, and the warmth of their friends.
Over the course of 36 wonderful years, Teresa and Tracey lived in Minneapolis, Atlanta, Kennett Square, PA, and Sioux Falls, SD. Their love for exploring the world introduced them to over 20 countries, with Teresa’s favorites including Norway and Japan. However, Italy held a special place in her heart, and they returned to its enchanting cities multiple times.
In her early 50s, Teresa redefined her work-life balance, embracing retirement with open arms and an open heart. She discovered a deep passion for yoga that transcended personal practice, leading her to a fulfilling role as a yoga instructor. Her unwavering dedication to yoga not only brought tranquility but also purpose to her retirement years
Teresa is survived by her beloved husband, Tracey Rothenberger, who shared every moment of her life’s journey. She is also remembered by her brother, Tom Hoien, of Columbia, MO, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who will always hold her in their hearts.
Teresa was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Hoien, her mother, Jeanette (Huntley) McDowell, and her father, Russell Hoien.
Teresa Ann Hoien will forever be remembered for her boundless love, her adventurous spirit, and her passion for yoga. She touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. As we bid her farewell, may her memory bring comfort and solace to all those who loved her.
