Virginia W. Waites, age 91, of Greenwood Delaware, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
Virginia was born in Augusta, Georgia on February 21,1933 to Bradford and Mary Willis. She married Robert Adolph Waites on May 30, 1954. They lived in South Carolina, transferred to Delaware where they raised their four children and then moved to Avondale, Pennsylvania.
Virginia was a past President and honorary lifetime member of the Garden Gate Garden Club, past docent at Winterthur Museum and past member of the Delaware Herbalist Society. She lived a fulfilling life and was a woman of many talents. Her love and compassion extended to all who knew her, and she will be remembered for her infectious smile and warm, gentle personality.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband. She is survived by her four children, Robbie of Ocean View; Peggy Hallowell (Don) of Greenwood, with whom she lived; Guy (Robin) of Rehoboth and Jeff (Wennie) of Wilmington; six grandchildren, Donna Thomas (Edwin), Donald Hallowell, Jr (Darra), Courtney Hatton (Will), Jessica Clark (Evan), Robert Waites, Haley Waites and great granddaughter, Harlee Hatton, and her sister, Mary Jane Craven and brother in law, Julius Waites (Theresa) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services are private.
