Vivienne Kathleen Turner formerly of Park Forest, Illinois, peacefully passed away at Kendal at Longwood, Kennett Square, Pennsylvania on January 16, 2020. She was 97 years old.
Born in Chicago, Illinois on July 30, 1922 Vivienne was the daughter of Cabot Hall and Kathleen Smith. She graduated from Parker High School in Chicago and received her degree in Occupational Therapy from Thorton Community College in 1973.
Vivienne was predeceased by her beloved husband Wilford of 64 years and loving son Stephan. She is survived by her son Gary of Kennett Square and grandchildren Kyle (Stephanie) of Frisco, Texas, Elise of Alexandria, Virginia, Christopher of Manayunk, Pennsylvania and Shannon of Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania.
Vivienne was a loving wife and mother. She was an outstanding cook, self-trained artist in multiple mediums, gardener and pet mom to many dogs, birds and cat Sunnie, who resided with her at Kendal. During her working career she was an advocate for the aging in her community, working at several nursing homes and extended living facilities. Vivienne represented the State of Illinois in fact finding cultural exchanges to China and Russia on the care of the aging. She brought the Meals on Wheels program to Park Forest, Illinois, a community of over 30,000, to help those in need of the service.
A celebration of Vivienne’s life will be held at a later date. For those who would wish to acknowledge Vivienne’s life, her family ask that you make memorial donations to your local SPCA or animal rescue of your choice in lieu of flowers.
