Obituary

Wayne R. Thomas passed away on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at Christiana Hospital following a lengthy illness.  He was 79 years old.

Wayne was a proud United States Army veteran and honorably served during the Vietnam War as a 11C-40 Army Operated Mortar Specialist SGT in the 171st Infantry.  Following his service to our Country, Wayne joined the DuPont Company, where he was a valued employee in their Maintenace Department.  He enjoyed fishing, watching the discovery channel, specifically shows on Alaska, wildlife and commercial and residential towing.  He was always into DIY and would try to fix anything he could. He enjoyed classic cars, specifically the 1957 Chevy Bel Air.  Wayne was a big Tom Brady fan and enjoyed watching sports.  Wayne adored Jenny with all her caring and kindness in taking care of him during their marriage but specifically the past four years during the hardest of times. Wayne would say, "he would have not made as long as he did without her and her kind soul".  As a father, Wayne was always there for his son, Adam in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, camping trips and learning survival skills in the woods. He and Adam got themselves into anything with an engine and together made life a thrilling experience!  Wayne was so proud and of the man Adam became.  He enjoyed life with his family and friends and loved his pets, Miley and Jake.

The family would like to thank the aides, nurses and doctors at Christiana Hospital and Millcroft Living for their great care of Wayne.
