William Lowell DeShong of West Grove, Pennsylvania passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at the Pocopson Home.  He was 84 years old.  Born in York, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Floyd DeShong and the late Esther Holtzinger DeShong.

Bill attended Red Lion High School in Red Lion, PA and is a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor's degree In Horticulture.  He worked at Styers Nursery upon graduation.  Later, he worked at Longwood Gardens for 21 years.  He finished his career at two family DuPont estates.

Bill enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family. He was an active leader of Boy Scout Troop 53 in Kennett Square and was a member of Kennett Square Presbyterian Church. Bill will be sadly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was the beloved husband of Barbara Keller DeShong; father of Timothy DeShong (Carolyn), Kim DeShong and Michelle Hulsey (Steve); grandfather of Greg, Nicole, Ashley, Daniel, Kira, Jessica and Christopher; great-grandfather of 4; brother of Helen Donagher, Barbara Anderson and Ralph DeShong.  In addition to his parents, William was predeceased by his siblings, Ken DeShong, George DeShong and Robert DeShong.

A viewing will be from 10:00AM until 11:00AM with a funeral service at 11:00AM on Friday, May 8, 2026 at the PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH of KENNETT SQUARE, 211 S. Broad Street, Kennett Square.  Burial will follow in Longwood Cemetery, 945 E. Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in William DeShong's name to Kennett Presbyterian Church, 211 S. Broad Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348
