Welcome to the memorial page for

William P. Davis

September 6, 1948 ~ November 29, 2016 (age 68) 68 Years Old

William (Bill) P. Davis, 68, of Cochranville, PA, died this Nov. 29 from complications following heart transplant surgery. Due to his diagnosis of hereditary amyloidosis, Davis underwent a successful liver transplant in 2005.

A retired Lieutenant in the New Jersey State Police, Davis was born in Norristown, PA, and attended Pennsbury High School. He later graduated from both Burlington County Community College and Trenton State College.

Davis enlisted in the US Coast Guard in 1967 and served through 1972, earning National Defense Service, Good Conduct, and Commendation medals. He served in the Coast Guard reserve from 1983 to 1999.

After retiring from the New Jersey State Police, Davis worked at the New Jersey Department of Criminal Justice as a Forensics Document Examiner from 1999-2014. He then retired and moved with his beloved wife, Carmella, to Cochranville in 2014.

Outside of work, Davis was a man of wide-reaching talents ranging from woodworking to singing. Davis was a lover of barbershop music and sang bass for award-winning choruses including Brothers in Harmony and the Pine Barons Barbershop Chorus.

When not in the woodshop or on stage singing, Davis could often be found on the golf course, walking the decks of a cruise ship while travelling with his wife, or dotting upon his cherished grandchildren: Vivian, Wren and Wylhelmina Davis of Oxford, PA, and Colin and Taryn Falla of Hudson, Mass.

Davis is survived by his wife, his daughter Kimberly and her husband Brian Falla of Hudson, Mass; his son Michael and his wife Amy Bottoms Davis of Oxford, PA; his sister, Barbara Davis of Southern Pines, NC, as well as his five grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be at 12:00PM on Sunday, December 4, 2016 at the LONGWOOD FUNERAL HOME of MATTHEW GENEREUX, 913 East Baltimore Pike, Kennett Square.  Visitation with the family will be from 10:00AM until the time of the service.  Burial will be private.  A reception will follow the memorial service at the Mendenhall Inn.
