We were shocked to read about Lou's passing, as he had been so vibrant a member for a number of years on Longboat Key. Kiwanis Foundation of Longboat Key, a 501(c)(3), was honored by the Sloan family when they suggested gifts in Louis' memory be directed to our local Foundation. Hundreds of dollars were received,, which will help fund a scholarship, thus meeting our goal of "serving the children of the world, one child and one community at a time". Louis Sloan was a quiet man, who never failed to volunteer to serve, and yet, never claimed the limelight. We recognize this "snowbird" as a member who gave his all, helping others above himself. He shall be missed.

Dear Family,

Sorry Marie and I were not able to make the memorial service today. I went to church this morning believing the forecasters about high winds and flooding here in Sussex County, but prayers were offered for Lou, and will continue for the family. Lou and I played tennis for many years together at the Bethany Tennis Club, and on a few occasions in Sarasota. Marie and I also enjoyed the times we socialized and had dinner with Lou and Peggy. I considered him a good friend. He was somewhat of a mentor to me and freely offered business advice. We played tennis together for the final time last June. He was a good man with a great sense of humor, and I will miss him. He obviously lived an honorable and happy life.

With sympathy, Jim Waehler
