Thomas Boyce Johnson, Jr., age 84, died in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Masonic Village, a caring and loving retirement community in Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania.  His son, Mark, and daughter, Holly, were at his bedside when he passed quietly.

Some knew him as Boyce others as BJ but in the latter years of his life, he preferred to be called Tom.  He was born on June 14, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA to Thomas B. Johnson and Jesse R. Johnson (Simmermon).  Tom graduated from Nether Providence High School in 1950.  In 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Mediterranean until honorably discharged in 1953.  After serving in the U.S. Navy, Tom went to work for Sun Oil Company in Marcus Hook, PA.  He met the love of his life, Geraldine (Gerry) A. Scruggs, in the fall of 1956.  They were engaged in the spring of 1957 and married on Saturday, April 12, 1958.  Together, they had a son and daughter in 1960 and 1963, respectively.  Tom and Gerry enjoyed camping with their young children on long summer weekends before deciding to spend more time entertaining family and friends around their swimming pool on hot summer days at their home in Brookhaven, PA.  Tom retired at age fifty-five in 1986 from Sun Oil Company.  After retirement, Tom and Gerry moved to Oxford, PA to enjoy peaceful country living.  In 1993, Tom’s beloved wife unexpectedly passed away.  Two years after the untimely death of his wife, Tom moved to Florida.  In spring of that same year, 1995, Tom became a proud grandfather – twice!  Bryan (Mark and Julie) and Jocelyn (Holly and Dan), born just a month a part, brought much joy and happiness to their Pop-pop.  A decade later, he returned to Pennsylvania to make the Masonic Village his final home.

Tom-Boyce-BJ is survived by his son, Mark, and daughter, Holly Imburgia (Dan); two grandchildren, Bryan Johnson and Jocelyn Imburgia; sisters, Mary Alice Hoffman and Glendora Kilbourne (Tom); and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
